About 500 people live in a village at the south of Chile, Curanipe. It captivates its visitants due to the natural contrast between its hills, forests, rivers and sea. Curanipe’s inhabitants have the charm and spirit of a simple life, along with a characteristic kindness.
Living far from modern life and without its vices, it’s still possible to see villagers who travel in wagons pulled by oxen and riding horses.
People at Curanipe live mainly from cattle raising, fishing and agriculture. It is known for products such as berries, papayas, honey, pollen, cheese, meat, fish, molluscs and sea weeds. Each morning, the fishermen load their nets in their boats and (se hacen a la mar) hoping it will provide them an abundant catch. It is a really amazing to see how these small vessels are pulled by oxen, as an important part in the process.
The Region of Maule is leader of the national vitivinicultura: it produces the 50 % of the thin wines of exportation and in it they are different of the principal national vineyards.
Curanipe is a locality near Talca, the capital of the Region Maule. Is located at two hours and a half of the National Airport and at five hours of the international airport of Santiago, to accede it is necessary to use one of the roads most modern of Chile, which after a few hours, gives step to a way between slopes and gullies, adorned with abundant vegetation, native forests and of pines.
In a natural worthy environment of the National Geografic's best documentary, exist more than 25 spot where it is possible to practise Surf, sports of candle(sail), treking and cabalgatas.
The locality relies on one of the best waves of the pacific south, emphasizing an infinity of left tops, waves of beaches and rock funds, which work indistinctly all the year round and in which even it is possible to have a session ado you present in the water.
